Class scaffolding

DAE follows the principles of supervised self-guided organization

The class scaffolding is a semi-structured organization of the teaching, with some options (free variables) to be decided by the group of stakeholders and other choices to be bound in advance by the teachers.

The scaffolding ranges between two extremes:

  1. A fully structured organization, where all decisions are taken in advanced by the teachers and there is no room for student decisions (traditional learning model);

  2. A fully unstructured organization, where all decisions are taken by the group of stakeholders (fully decentralized learning model).

It is up to the instructor to choose a point between these opposite extremes, but we suggest a semi-structured organization in which some variables are bound by the teachers and some are left free for plural discussion and voting.

Examples of organization topics that might be discussed include:

  1. The virtuous actions and their weight in terms of karma;

  2. The syllabus of the course;

  3. The assessment method and rules;

  4. Potential invited speakers;

  5. Any other aspect concerning the organization of the class.
